I was always a cat person... and then we got Cleo. Don't get me wrong, I love our cat (though Cleo never did!). Something changed though, and now I will always have a special place in my heart for dogs of all kinds, but especially Dobermans. I could put hundreds of pix of her here and still have more to show. She was a great subject, even though she was always going ninety miles an hour. Many of my photos of her are either out of focus or only catch her rear end!

Dobes just wouldn't look the same without the tall pointy ears, but I have to say a few words about the cropped ear thing. When we got Cleo, we had a casino so we always had a fair amount of cash on hand. We wanted a guard dog for obvious reasons, but I hadn't a clue what was in store training her ears. Let's just say I would never put a dog through that again. In some states it's illegal, and there's a reason for that.

A year ago we found out Cleo had heart disease. We'd hoped she'd see another spring, but it wasn't to be. This has been tough for us, really tough. She was always with us, always a joy. There's so much I could say about her. She was so beautiful. I dream of
her often.
